The Education IT Centre
The Education IT Centre. These two photos were used to direct students from the Computer Centre to the Education IT Centre, especially the ones whose English was not fluent.
The Silicon Graphics machine 'Silver', which provided a Unix number-crunching service for research users from March 1993 to October 1998. It had 20 R4000 cpus, 1Gb of main memory, and 60Gb of disc space.

The Operators' Bridge in the computer room, only lacking Scotty to beam people up. All the consoles for the various machines were gathered together for easier observation.
Network PADs. These were communications devices for connecting fairly dumb terminals into minicomputers such as Primes and Unix machines.
