The Education IT Centre. These two photos were used to direct students
from the Computer Centre to the Education IT Centre, especially the ones
whose English was not fluent. |

The Silicon Graphics machine 'Silver', which provided a Unix number-crunching
service for research users from March 1993 to October 1998. It had 20 R4000
cpus, 1Gb of main memory, and 60Gb of disc space. |

The Operators' Bridge in the computer room, only lacking Scotty to
beam people up. All the consoles for the various machines were gathered
together for easier observation. |

Network PADs. These were communications devices for connecting fairly
dumb terminals into minicomputers such as Primes and Unix machines. |
